A mandatory security update (TLS 1.2) will be pushed out to QuickBooks® Point of Sale 18.0 customers this week. The security update will be part of the January release, but due to the importance of this update, they are pre-empting the release to get the update to you sooner!
Beginning this week, you will see a message in QuickBooks® Point of Sale that reads: “A new security update is available for QuickBooks® POS 18.0. Update now to ensure uninterrupted access to your POS Payments Service. Click here to learn more."

What You Need Before Installing TLS 1.2
Point of Sale: Version 18.0
Operating System: Windows 7 or higher
Internet Explorer: Version 8 or higher
Using the TLS 1.2 Utility
The utility should be run as an administrator user or a user with administrator privileges
It needs to be executed on all computers running QuickBooks® Point of Sale (Stand alone, Client/Server, Remote & HQ)
Install the TLS 1.2 Utility
Download the utility and save it to your desktop.
Right-click the TLSMigrationClient.exe on your desktop and select Run as administrator.
Select Click to Proceed.
The utility takes less than a minute to complete the update.
